This is a very beautiful infantry support scenario. While the result will probably
never be in doubt, because of the Russian numerical superiority, the chalenge in
playing with the Allies is to limit the cassualties. In the real event,
there was no Allied tank lost and very few infantry cassualties.
Allies: you have two main advantages: you have just found out about the German
defense layout and have excellent artillery. Use them well. This is one of the
direct evidences of the dramatic effect Katiusha bombardments can have on
tanks. This is however one of the major shortcomings of the game, does not credit
indirect fire with impressive results against armored units, including those with an open citadel.
In any case, concentrate the Katiusha salvos on the left enemy flank. You will be
able to move your Katiusha units later, to reach the rest of the enemy units.
Keep your tanks close to the infantry. This is not a 'Panzers forward!' scenario but is designed
to be played at infantry pace.
Axis: your chance is to massacrate the enemy infantry at medium/long range where you have the
advantage. Try to minimize the effects of enemy artillery, by moving your units.
Your AT guns will be quickly sacrificed to enemy tanks and artillery.
Also try to disrupt enemy units and thus pin them down, which makes them vulnerable to your own artillery.
