OVERVIEW: The ALLIGATOR class Landing Ship, Tank (LST) (Soviet Designation: Large Landing Ship (BDK)) is a small, diesel-powered LST.

DETAILS:   The ALLIGATOR class is a beachable, general-purpose LST-type design with bow and stern ramps for unloading vehicles. Approximately 24-30 APCs or 1,500 tons of cargo could be carried.  Produced in at least four different types beginning in 1966. there are numerous variations in detail between individual units.  A total of 14 vessels were completed between 1964 and 1975.
