OVERVIEW: The Mk82 "Snakeye" Low Drag General Purpose bomb (LDGP) is a unguided freefall bomb with a high explosive filler and a retarding device to allow for low-level delivery.

DETAILS: The Mk82 "Snakeye" is a Mk82 round with an incorporated tail retarding device composed of four folded fins which spring open into a cruciform
shape when the bomb is released. The fins increase the drag of the bomb, slowing its forward progress and allowing the delivery aircraft to safely pass
over the target before the bomb explodes. The release envelope for the Mk82 is 600 knots.

Weight: 232-259 kg
Filling Weight: 87 kg (Tritonal, Minol or Comp H6)

NOTES: The Mk82 bomb is usually equipped with the mechanical M904 (nose) and M905 (tail) fuzes or the radar-proximity FMU-113 air-burst fuze. It has a
lethal radius of 15.8 meters against standing personnel, and 3.6 meters against personnel in foxholes.
