OVERVIEW: The AGM-12A Bullpup, aka ASM-N-7 aka GAM-83 is a command-guided, solid fuel, air-to-surface missile with a 250 lb warhead.

DETAILS: The AGM-12A Bullpup is an early command-guided standoff missile. After visual identification of a target the missile is launched and guided to the target using a joystick in the launching aircraft. Two small flares in the tail section of the missile assist the pilot in maintaining visual contact with the missile during flight.
This command guidance system required the aircraft, the missile, and the target essentially had to remain in a straight line during guidance, making the aircraft vulnerable to ground fire.
