OVERVIEW: The Type 408C radar is a mobile, long range air defense warning radar operating in the B (NATO) or VHF band (IEEE) Band.

DETAILS: The Type 408C employs a dipole planar array antenna type with two back to arrays which can be operated simultaneously at the high and low bands, giving two transmit/receive channels.  The equipment has a wide operating frequency range within each band, enabling it to counter active jamming by rapid change of frequency within the bands.  By integrating the video signal it is able to suppress asynchronous pulse jamming, and by modulating the transmitter PRF it counters repeater pulse jamming.
