OVERVIEW: The SA-15a GAUNTLE SAM platoon is a mobile, solid-fuel, short range, medium-to-high altitude, radio command guided, surface-to-air missile (SAM) unit.

DETAILS: The SA-15 GAUNTLET is a mobile rapid reaction SAM. Its targets include low flying aircraft, helicopters cruise missiles, standoff missiles and smart bombs during their terminal flight phase.

Long-range surveillance can be provided by the C-band DOG EAR radarThe SA-15 TELAR uses a 3D pulse Doppler surveillance radar operating in the 4-6 GHZ (C-band), and a phased-array monopulse Doppler engagement radar operating at 20-40 GHz (K-band). It also has a TV engagement system, enabling the SA-15 to operate in high ECM environment. The system can conduct automatic threat evaluation for up to 48 targets and track up to 10 targets simultaneiously. Target surveillance may be done on the move, but firing requires the TELAR to stop. It can engage only a single target at a time. , and the system can be datalinked into other AD control systems to form an AD network.

 The missile is "cold launched"
