OVERVIEW:  The C-802 (aka YJ-83 aka CSS-N-6) battalion is a  mobile, long-range, subsonic, solid fuel, active I-Band radar, anti-ship unit intended defend and/or blockade maritime choke points and SLOCs against medium-sized surface naval vessels.

DETAILS:    After target acquisition by the I-band Type 352/SQUARE TIE surface search radar, the missile is fed range and bearing data and launched. Unlike the earlier C-801, the C-802 can use pre-programed way-points. After  booster separation, the missile climbs to 20-30 meters altitude and cruises to the target area using inertial navigation.    At an unknown distance from the projected target position, the missile activates its I-band radar.  After acquiring a target, the missile descends to approximately 6 meters and enters the terminal attack phase.
