OVERVIEW: The JY-11B is a self-propelled, low-altitude, 3D air surveillance radar, operating in the E/F-band. 

DETAILS: The JY-11B employs 'reconfigurable' transmission beams and Digital Beam Forming (DBF) for reception to provide low-altitude and good sea-surface detection, with modern  
processing techniques including AMTI and pulse Doppler sampling.  Unlike the JY-11, this is not a dismountable system but the antenna can be raised on a hydraulically controlled  
tower to improve the system's low altitude coverage, very similar in concept and design to the German TRM-S system, or ByeloRussian Vostok E.  It also features a high degree of  
automation, giving it both a fast reaction and standalone capability.  It can also provide target designation services to weapon systems.
