OVERVIEW: The AN/TPS-59/M34 is a Early Warning and Situational Awareness Radar System.

DETAILS: The AN/TPS-59/M34 is designed to operate with Patriot or Hawk missile batteries, and naval AEGIS systems. Its power and range even make it suitable for ballistic missile defense roles.

NOTES: IOC 1991. The AN/TPS-59/M34 is a smaller version of the AN/TPS-59 used by the USMC,and was delivered to Egypt in 1991 to complement the air defense mission of the AN/TPS-59 radars already in the country. Because, the M/34 is smaller, it is simpler to set up and relocate than the AN/TPS-59 and is mounted on both trailers and trucks. In contrast to the AN/TPS-59, it is used strictly for early warning, situational awareness for air breathing threats.
