OVERVIEW:  The Type 992Q radar is a shipborne, medium-range, general-purpose search and target designation radar operating in the NATO E/F-band (IEEE S-Band).  It can also be used as a medium range air radar.

DETAILS:   The Type 992 is a high-power radar providing rapid target indication for weapons. Originally developed in the mid-1950's, the modernized Type 992Q used solid-state technique (except the magnetron and its modulator) and a parametric amplifier and an improved beamwidth of only 1.2 degrees.  It also features a fully stabilized, slotted waveguide antenna.  For quicker target designation, the Type 992 can be synchronized with other radars in pulse and rotation.
