OVERVIEW:  The Type 975 aka Kelvin-Hughes (KH 14/12) radar is a shipborne surface search and navigation radar operating in the NATO I-band (IEEE X-Band).

DETAILS:   A close-range, high-definition surface warning radar used principally for pilotage and navigation. It was fitted in small warships such as frigates, Coastal minesweepers, Inshore minesweepers & Royal Fleet Auxiliaries.  The antenna turntable was not stabilized against ship heeling.

NOTES:  IOC 1960 (approx).  The radar has with two antenna versions: Type 975(1) has a 6-foot-wide, Type 975(2) has a 10-foot-wide end fed slotted waveguide antenna. Widely exported, and commonly used on smaller ships in the early 1960s.
