RNlNavy Rotterdam Class LPD (2) Amphibian Transport Ships. Both the Rotterdam (L800) and its more modern sister ship Johan de Witt (L801) were designed after the end of the Cold War with a multi role vision for the RNlNavy.
The Royal NL Marines use the ships as fast Amphibious Transports capable of transporting a Marines bataljon (600 Marines) and housing 4 LCU's or 6 LCVP's.
They serve UN and NATO missions (Allied Harbor and UNMEE) and the Rotterdam has served as anti-piracy vessel in the Red Sea in 2012, sinking a fishing vessel after being fired upon from that ship by pirates.
The Spanish Navy has two identical ships in service (Galicia and Castilia).
