OVERVIEW: The IVAN ROGOV-class (Project 1174 Nosorog) Large Landing Ship is a  2-shaft, gas-turbine-powered LPD.

DETAILS:   These were the first Soviet ships to have docking well and helicopter capability.  The bow ramp allows for beaching capability and offload of tanks.  Stern doors lead to a flooded well which can carry two ACVs and one LCM.  Up to four HELIX helicopters can be carried.  Up to 53 tanks or 80 armoured personnel carriers may be carried if the well deck is used for ground vehicle parking.

NOTES: IOC 1978. Three units in Class:IVAN ROGOV, ALEKSANDR NIKOLAEV and MITROFAN MOSKALENKO.  All units in reserve or decommissioned as of 2002.
