OVERVIEW: The KASHIN MOD class DDG is a gas turbine-powered, multi-role destroyer.

DETAILS:   The KASHIN MOD class DDG was a modified KASHIN class DD with improved electronics and the installation of four rear-firing STYX Surface-to-Surface missiles.  The conversions were made between 1973-80.  In addition, a variable-depth sonar was added.  An additional five hulls were built for export to India,  and one hull was given to Poland. One ship, the OTVAZHNYY was lost after an explosion in her aft SA-N-1 SAM magazine on 30 August 1974.
