OVERVIEW: The YANKEE II (Project 667 AM) is a nuclear powered ballistic missile submarine.

DETAILS:   The YANKEE II SSBN was a single ship class, designed to carry the solid fuel  SS-N-17 SLBM.   Quieter than the predecessor HOTEL class, the YANKEE used special propellers for quieter propulsion,  as well as antihydroacoustic coating to the outer hull. The footings under the main and auxiliary propulsion systems were also isolated by a layer of rubber.
