OVERVIEW:  The HY-2 aka C-201 aka CSSC-3 SEERSUCKER is a liquid fueled, medium-range ASCM with a 513 kg shaped charge warhead.  

DETAILS:  The HY-2 was developed from the HY-1, the primary difference being a longer fuselage accomodating increased propellant. The HY-2 uses a combination inertial and active conical scanning terminal radar for guidance.

During launch, the missile is initially boosted to an altitude of 145 meters by a solid fuel rocket booster.  From there, it is powered by a liquid fuel sustainer and decends to 30 meters, using inertial guidance to fly to the target area.  At approximately 10 km from its target, the radar seeker activates, and directs the missile towards the strongest radar reflection.

The missile's large warhead can sink or severely damage a 3,000 ton class destroyer.
