OVERVIEW: The HQ-12, (export designation KS-1A) is a road-mobile, single stage  solid-fuel, medium range, medium-to-high altitude, radio command guided, surface-to-air missile (SAM).  It carries a 100 kg HE warhead. 

DETAILS: The HQ-12 was primarily designed to destroy UAVs and helicopters, although it is also has some capability against low-flying aircraft, medium-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.   It is effective agains against  4-5 G maneuvering targets.
