OVERVIEW: The APR-2 is an airborne-delivered, solid fuel, rocket-powered ASW active/passive acoustic  
Homing rocket with a 100 kg. warhead.

DETAILS:  The APR-2 (Aviacionnaia Podvodnaia Raketa-1) is an rocket powered ASW weapon utilizing a rocket for propulsion. After deployment, the rocket acoustically acquires a submarine contact.  Upon target detection, the missile ignites propelling the missile to speeds of up to 63 knots,  minimizing target reaction time.  Homing is by a correlation-phase system, with a maximum range of 1,500 meters. The weapon has advertised kill probability of 70-85%.
