OVERVIEW:  The HY-2A aka C-201 aka CSSC-3 SEERSUCKER is a liquid fueled, medium-range ASCM with a 513 kg shaped charge warhead.  

DETAILS:  The HY-2A was developed from the HY-1, the primary difference being a longer fuselage accommodating increased propellant. The HY-2A uses a liquid fuel, subsonic missile.  It  uses a combination inertial and infrared homing for guidance.

During launch, the missile is initially boosted to an altitude of 145 meters by a solid fuel rocket booster.  From there, it is powered by a liquid fuel sustainer and descends to 30 meters, using inertial guidance to fly to the target area.  As it nears the target area, the infrared homing seeker activates and directs the missile towards the strongest IR return.

The missile's large warhead can sink or severely damage a 3,000 ton class destroyer.
