OVERVIEW: The MM.38 Exocet missile is a two-stage, rocket propelled, sub-sonic, surface-launched, medium-range, radar homing, anti-ship missile, equipped with a 165 kg warhead.

DETAILS: After launch, the MM.38 Exocet uses inertial navigation for midcourse guidance. During this cruise phase, the missile flies for up to 22 km (12 nm) at an altitude of approximately 100 meters. At approximately 12-15 km from the target, the MM.38 activates its 13nm range I-band (8-10 GHz) active
radar for terminal guidance. After target detection, the missile descends to 9-15 meters altitude for the approach before descending to 2-8 meters (sea
state-dependent) sea-skimming terminal phase. The MM38 has a 105 degree off-axis engagement envelope, and can perform one 15 degree course change after
launch.
