OVERVIEW:  The Arrow 3 is a two stage, solid fuel ATBM missile using inertial guidance and combined with a terminal electro-optical sensor and a proportional navigation and thrust-vectoring to destroy a target with its hit-to-kill warhead.

DETAILS: The Arrow 3 is a two-stage missile is equipped with solid propellant booster and sustainer rocket motors. The missile uses an initial burn to carry out a vertical hot launch from the container and a secondary burn to sustain the missile’s trajectory towards the target at a maximum speed of Mach 9, or 2.5km/s.

Thrust vector control is used in the boost and sustainer phases of flight.

The missile is "very energetic" with energy used to give the missile "super-manoeuvrability" so it will be capable of changing its trajectory to engage another target detected after launch.
