OVERVIEW:  The KN-06  is a single stage, solid fuel, long-range, Track via Missile (TVM) guided  surface-to-air missile.  It has a 150 kg warhead utilizing a RF proximity or impact fuze.

DETAILS: The KN-06  series was developed as an area defense/strategic SAM system for both land and naval use. It uses a command link for guidance.  The missile uses a thrust vectoring system for enhanced maneuverability.

NOTES:  IOC 2016.  To ensure missile reliability, the missile uses the acombined launch and transport container. This container was never opened until missile launch. The vertical launch technique adopted used a catapult accelerator within the container to pop the missile to an altitude 20 m above the launcher, where the main motor ignited.  Little detail about the KN-06 is available at the time of this writin (December 2019).  Some sources claim the KN-06 may use a passive radar homing head for use against AEW aircraft.
