OVERVIEW:  The SA-11 GADFLY (9K38 Buk) is a mobile, single-stage, solid fuel, low-to-high altitude, medium range surface-to-air missile using semi-active radar guidance.  It is equipped with a 70 kg HE fragmentation warhead.

DETAILS:  The SA-11 GADFLY was primarily intended to protect front line-armor and mechanized divisions.

NOTES:  IOC:  1980. Designed to replace the SA-6 systems.  The naval version is known as the SA-N-7 GADFLY.  The system is a direct equivalent in basic design to the US RIM-66 Standard family of naval missiles.
