A nuclear armed Iran is an intolerable situation. It poses an extreme threat to not only allied nations and our forces in the region, but all over the world. If we do not act it will have global repercussions. It's unlikely we'll be able to completely destroy the Iranian nuclear program, short of conducting a nuclear strike ourselves, but we can try to delay their acquisition of additional nuclear devices.
Over the last several weeks the Israelis and us have been negotiating a joint response. The Israelis have been attempting to quietly mobilize, and US forces are on standby for deployment to the region. However, it's impossible for mobilization on this scale to go completely unnoticed and has been noticed by several news agencies and social media. Considering these reports, its likely Iran has also raised its own alert status.
The Iranian Air Force consists mostly of American fighters from the 1960s and 1970s; F-4 Phantoms, F-14 Tomcats, and F-5 Freedom Fighters. They also have a single squadron of MiG-29s based in Tehran. Of these, the F-14 based at Esfahan are the most dangerous. The Phoenix / Fakour-90 (Max Range: 81 nm) these aircraft are armed with is the longest-range missile in the Iranian inventory. The F-14s and F-4s can both be armed with the semi-active radar homing Sparrow III missile. It has a shorter range (Max Range: 16 nm) than the Phoenix but is more effective against fighter sized aircraft.
Iranian air defenses consist of Soviet era radars and SAM systems, some Chinese copies, American made I-HAWK SAMs from the same time period, and new Iranian domestic systems. The two most advanced, and dangerous, SAM systems in the Iranian inventory are the SA-20 [S-300OPMU-2] and the Iranian AD-200. At least one battalion of SA-20s is likely deployed near Bandar Abbas and Esfahan. The others are most likely concentrated around Tehran.
The entirety of the IAF front line fighter inventory will be available to you. Of these, the F-15Is, F-16Is, and F-35Is are the most advanced. The F-15I can carry the GBU-28C/B Deep Throat laser guided bomb. It's a 4700lb penetrator bomb, ideal for use against the Natanz and Fordow facilities.
A wing of Jericho III IRBMs with conventional warheads has also been made available.
In addition to the units already assigned to the Ninth Air Force several fighter and bomber squadrons have been alerted and are standing by for deployment to the region. You have been authorized to deploy up to eight expeditionary fighter squadrons to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates and Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, and up to four expeditionary bomb squadrons to Diego Garcia. Additional tankers have already been deployed to Diego Garcia to support these deployments.
Qatar will allow support aircraft to fly from its territory but has not yet decided if they will allow combat aircraft to do so. If they allow staging of combat aircraft, one expeditionary bomb squadron and two expeditionary fighter squadrons may be deployed to Al Udeid Air Base.
The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group has been on deployment since December and was supposed to have already started its return to CONUS but that has been delayed until further notice. Carrier Air Wing 1 and Destroyer Squadron 28 have been assigned to your command, but the carrier is under orders to not leave its patrol area in the northern Arabian Sea.
There are four primary Iranian nuclear sites related to the development of nuclear weapons; Arak Heavy Water Plant, Esfahan Uranium Conversion Facility, Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, and the Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant. The Iranians have recently completed an expansion to the Natanz facility in the mountain south of the main site.
The decision on where to strike and with what aircraft and munitions is up to you. With the available resources, you should be able to strike all four facilities. It's recommended that you use B-2s against the Fordow facility and F-15E/Is against Natanz.
DO NOT under any circumstances damage the nuclear reactors at the Arak and Esfahan facilities.
