1. Situation:

A. Enemy Forces:

The OpFor Air Force has a detachment of four MiG-23 (Flogger) stationed in the objective area.

Air defenses consists of Soviet radars and SAM systems. Multiple SA-2 (Guideline) sites have been located. SA-3 (GOA) sites have also been observed but they where empty on the latest reconnaissance imagery.

Bomb simulated runway target located at geographic coordinates 52-31.5N 61-47.3W.

3. Execution:

A. Course of Action:

Fourteen USAF F-111's and supporting tankers will sortie from the United Kingdom. Four F-111's will be in air spares and will return to base 90-minutes after takeoff. F-111's and tankers will rendevous over Machrihanish Island and then proceed across the Atlantic towards St. Johns, Newfoundland.

Two aerial refuelings are expected on both the outboud and return legs. After the first refueling six KC-10's will retun to RAF Mildenhall. The Command KC-10 (DEBAR 11) will accompany the F-111's to provide navigation and communication support.

Additional KC-10's from Portsmouth International Airport will rendevous over the mid-Atlantic to provide pre and post strike refueling. KC-135's from RAF Mildenhall will sortie to provide refueling on the return leg.

After refueling, F-111's will descend to low level and proceed as individual aircraft to the objective. Each aircraft will target a specific point on the simulated runway in order to cut it into approximately 2,000 foot segments. As support team has erected the targets and will remain in the area to observe the attack.

After completing their bombing runs the F-111's will rendevous with tankers for the return to England.

D. Coordinating Instructions:

Support team has been dispatched to assist in coordinating outside support as required.

E. Rules of Engagement:

Normal peacetime rules of engagement apply with the following additions.

Aircraft will abort if all combat systems are not fully operational.
