OVERVIEW: The RAB-250M-91 is an unguided, free-falling 250 kg airburst bomb designed for anti-personnel and light material targets.

DETAIL: Developed by Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia), the RAB-250M-91 features a prefragmented casing surrounding a high-explosive core, optimized for wide-area fragmentation effects. It employs an airburst fuze to detonate at a preset altitude, maximizing shrapnel dispersion over open terrain or troop concentrations. The bomb uses a cylindrical steel body and stabilizing tail fins for consistent ballistic drop. It is compatible with standard Soviet and Yugoslav aircraft bomb racks.

The airburst mechanism is typically radar or barometric fuze-based, allowing detonation above ground level. The preformed fragments significantly increase lethality over traditional blast-fragmentation munitions. Designed for low- and medium-level delivery, it emphasizes area denial and troop suppression. Its rugged design also makes it suitable for irregular terrain.

The RAB-250M-91 is operationally deployed by the Serbian Air Force, especially from aircraft like the G-4 Super Galeb. It is primarily intended for close air support or battlefield interdiction against infantry, convoys, and light structures. The munition has seen limited combat use but remains in active inventory.
