OVERVIEW: The CRV-7 C14 is an unguided, high-velocity 70mm air-to-surface rocket designed for anti-personnel and light materiel targets using a dual-purpose warhead optimized for both blast and fragmentation effects.

DETAILS: The CRV-7 (Canadian Rocket Vehicle 7) is a 70mm (2.75-inch) unguided rocket developed by Canada in the 1970s to replace the U.S. Hydra 70, offering superior range, velocity, and armor penetration. The "7" refers to the 70 mm (2.75-inch) diameter class. With a speed of over Mach 2.2, its high velocity improves accuracy and armor penetration over older models. The system can be fired from standard 7 and 19 tube launchers and is compatible with NATO-standard rocket pods.

The C14 variant of the CRV-7 uses a dual-purpose HEPD (High Explosive Point Detonating) warhead, combining blast effects for soft targets and fragmentation for personnel or light vehicles. It adds improved lethality over simple HE warheads, especially in area suppression roles and against unarmored or lightly protected targets. The HEPD design ensures effectiveness both in direct hits and near-target airburst.

The CRV-7 C14 is typically loaded into LAU-5003 or LAU-68 rocket pods and carried by fast jets or attack helicopters. It is pre-programmed for point detonation using mechanical fuzes and is aimed using the aircraft’s ballistic computation or sighting system. It is employed in ripple or salvo fire for maximum saturation over target zones.
