OVERVIEW: The SNEB is an unguided 68mm air-to-surface rocket developed in France for multirole use, including anti-personnel, anti-armor, and marking. It is launched from pods mounted on fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft and supports a wide variety of warhead types.

DETAILS: First fielded in 1955, the SNEB (Societe Nouvelle des Etablissements Edgar Brandt) 68mm rocket family includes munitions produced by TDA Armements and TBA (Thomson-Brandt Armements). The rocket measures approximately 940mm in length and weighs about 6.8kg depending on the warhead. It uses a solid-propellant motor and fin stabilization to reach ranges of 1.5 to 3km with a maximum velocity of ~450m/s. The system supports multiple warhead types, including HE, HEAT, anti-runway, flechette, smoke, illumination, and training warheads, making it highly modular.

Later developments by TDA include laser-guided variants like Aculeus LG (formerly SYROCOT), offering precision upgrade paths while maintaining compatibility with legacy launch pods.

Rockets are launched from multi-tube pods such as the Matra Type 116M, Matra Type 155, and the Telson series (Telson 8, 12, 22). Once launched via electric firing from cockpit controls, stabilizing fins deploy, and the munition follows a ballistic trajectory toward target impact.
