OVERVIEW: The SR-50 is a 120 mm short-range chaff munition introduced by Russia in 1990. It is launched from the PK-10 decoy dispenser system to deploy radar-reflective material for seduction purposes.

DETAILS: The SR-50 is a rocket-assisted chaff round used to counter radar-guided threats by creating a dense cloud of dipoles that reflect radar signals. It is compatible with the 10-barrel PK-10 launcher system, which is installed on several Russian Navy surface combatants. The munition is approximately 1,226 mm in length and carries roughly 10 kg of chaff, forming a radar-reflective screen intended to confuse or lure hostile seekers away from the vessel. The SR-50 is often deployed alongside infrared decoys such as the SO-50 or SK-50 to form a layered countermeasure defense.

FONCTION:
Fired from the PK-10 launcher after detection of a radar-guided threat.
Propels and ejects radar dipole chaff at short standoff range.
Forms a false radar target to seduce enemy seekers away from the ship.
