OVERVIEW: SCLAR‑H is a deck-mounted, trainable multi-rocket decoy launcher system introduced in the late 1990s. It deploys chaff, infrared flares, and illumination rounds to protect naval vessels against radar- and IR-guided missile threats.

DETAILS: SCLAR‑H retains the core design of the original SCLAR system, mounting 20 rocket tubes in a rotating, elevating turret capable of firing one rocket per second. Four of the 20 tubes are enlarged to 118 mm to accommodate heavier decoy rounds, while the remaining 16 remain 105 mm calibers . Fully integrated with shipboard EW suites, the system supports automatic selection and salvo firing based on detected threat type (radar or infrared). SCLAR‑H has been installed on many Italian Navy ships from Luzio-class frigates to FREMM‑IT vessels, and remains in service until being phased out in favor of newer systems like ODLS‑20.

FONCTION:
Sensor threat detection cues the launcher to rotate and elevate toward the threat vector.
Launcher fires the appropriate 105 mm or 118 mm decoy rounds in salvoes.
Deployed rockets eject chaff, IR flares, or illumination warheads to seduce or disrupt incoming missiles.
