OVERVIEW: SEALAT‑CANTO is an active electro-acoustic torpedo countermeasure decoy mortar system integrated into the Lacroix SYLENA Mk2 launcher. It is designed to seduce and jam incoming acoustic-homing torpedoes by generating false underwater targets.

DETAILS: SEALAT‑CANTO is part of the SEACLAD family of advanced naval decoys developed by Lacroix and Leonardo, introduced in the mid‑2010s. The SEALAT rounds include an acoustic emitter/jammer payload derived from Naval Group’s CANTO system, capable of both spreading false acoustic targets (confusion) and diluting torpedo tracking . SWATH‑syndicated with the Sylena Mk2 launcher’s static mortars, SEALAT‑CANTO rounds can be fired in salvos alongside RF (SEALEM) and IR (SEALIR) decoys to provide simultaneous air- and subsurface protection. The system is in active service on Mediterranean and Southeast Asian navies operating SYLENA Mk2‑equipped vessels.

FONCTION:
Fired from static Sylena Mk2 decoy mortar tubes after torpedo detection.
Deploys active acoustic jammers and decoy emitters into the water.
Creates multiple false acoustic targets to mislead incoming torpedoes.
