OVERVIEW: The Zoka is an expendable acoustic torpedo decoy part of ASELSAN’s Zargana soft‑kill countermeasure suite designed to lure and confuse incoming acoustic-homing torpedoes through realistic sound signatures and maneuvering behavior.

DETAILS: Developed in the 2010s under Turkey's DAKA (Torpedo Countermeasure Decoy) program and entering service in the 2020s, Zoka integrates with both submarine (Zargana system) and surface-ship (HIZIR) launchers. When launched, the decoy mimics the acoustic and kinetic behavior of the host vessel using onboard hydrophones and signal generators. It can both receive incoming torpedo pings and momentarily respond, simulating vessel movement and propagating echo replies to deceive seekers . The result is a highly effective decoy that both mimics and masks the submarine or surface ship acoustically.

As part of the Zargana system, Zoka operates alongside Zargana jammers in coordinated salvos, providing a layered defense by combining masking noise with acoustic deception. It is launchable from under-hull submarine tubes or signal ejectors and from surface-ship launchers, offering operational flexibility.

FONCTION:
Detect incoming acoustic-homing torpedo via onboard sensors.
Launch Zoka decoy from submarines or surface vessels.
Emit deceptive acoustic signals and echo replies to draw the torpedo away from the actual platform.
