OVERVIEW: The Mobile Torpedo Decoy (MOD), Type 1 is a self-propelled decoy system used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) to counter torpedo threats against submarines. It is designed to mimic the acoustic signature of a submarine, misleading incoming torpedoes and diverting them away from the actual vessel.

DETAILS: This system works alongside other defensive measures, such as Floating Acoustic Jammers (FAJ), which interfere with the acoustic sensors of torpedoes. These technologies enhance submarine survivability by disrupting enemy targeting systems and providing additional layers of protection.
