OVERVIEW: The Mk 245 “GIANT” is a 130 mm infrared seduction flare round introduced in 1997. It is designed to mislead infrared-guided anti-ship missiles by deploying multiple timed flare submunitions.

DETAILS: The round is compatible with 130 mm naval SRBOC-type launchers used by NATO-aligned navies. Upon launch, it sequentially ejects five high-intensity infrared flares, creating a cascading thermal signature intended to mimic ship heat and attract IR seekers. Manufactured to NATO standards, it provides a layered soft-kill defense capability and is fielded by multiple navies worldwide.

FONCTION:
Fired from 130 mm SRBOC decoy launchers after IR-threat detection.
Sequentially deploys five infrared flare submunitions during flight.
Generates a multi-source thermal signature to seduce incoming heat-seeking missiles.
