OVERVIEW: The SLDM is a shipborne, deck-mounted, 115 mm multiple decoy launcher system developed by IPqM for soft-kill naval defense. It is designed to launch chaff and infrared flares to counter radar- and IR-guided threats in littoral and open-sea scenarios.

DETAILS: Developed by Brazil's Instituto de Pesquisas da Marinha (IPqM) in collaboration with Elebra, the SLDM is intended to modernize the countermeasure capabilities of Brazilian surface combatants. It features up to six 115 mm pneumatic launch tubes arranged in two fixed angled modules and is capable of deploying chaff and infrared seduction decoys in various programmable modes. The system can be reloaded manually and integrated with the ship’s electronic warfare suite for automated or semi-automated firing sequences. It has been certified for use by the Brazilian Navy and has undergone operational testing with Barroso-class corvettes and other platforms.

FUNCTION:
SLDM operates by launching decoys in response to EW threat detection.
Once triggered, it releases chaff or flare rounds in patterns based on preset firing tables.
These create radar-reflective or infrared-emissive false targets to confuse incoming guided munitions and reduce hit probability.
