OVERVIEW: The FQF-2500 is an unguided, short-range, ship-mounted anti-submarine rocket depth charge system. It is launched in 12-round salvos to create a forward underwater explosive barrier against incoming torpedoes or submarines.

DETAILS: FQF is a Chinese shipborne antisubmarine rocket depth charge launcher. The system fires 240 mm projectiles with high-explosive warheads, adapted from the Soviet RBU-1200 design. It was first introduced by the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) in the early 1970s as part of modernization efforts to counter underwater threats. The system is installed in twin launchers mounted on the forward deck and reloaded manually between salvos.

FUNCTION: The FQF-2500 is used to destroy or disrupt enemy torpedoes and submarines by saturating the water ahead of the ship with timed-depth or proximity-fused explosives. It operates in response to sonar contact and serves as a hard-kill layer in shipboard anti-submarine warfare.
