OVERVIEW: The Fokker 60MPA is a maritime patrol and surveillance aircraft operated by Peru, based on the extended fuselage version of the Fokker 50 platform. Entering Peruvian service in 2010, it is configured for coastal surveillance, EEZ patrol, and limited maritime intelligence missions.

DETAILS: The Fokker 60MPA is derived from the Fokker 60 Utility, a stretched version of the Fokker 50 designed for military and transport applications. Originally built for the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the aircraft were later transferred to Peru and modified for maritime patrol roles. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127B turboprop engines, with a cruising speed of approximately Mach 0.39 (around 500 km/h) and a range near 2,500 km. It features bubble observation windows, a side-looking airborne radar (SLAR), and mission consoles for visual and radar-based maritime surveillance.

The Peruvian F.60MPA configuration includes surveillance radar and electro-optical systems suitable for tracking vessels, monitoring smuggling routes, and patrolling Peru’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The aircraft is visibly equipped with maritime sensor modifications and tactical communication systems. It is optimized for long-duration coastal patrol and maritime interdiction support.

TYPE: Maritime Patrol and Surveillance Aircraft

FUNCTION: Used for coastal surveillance, EEZ protection, and maritime traffic monitoring to support national security and law enforcement. Its endurance and sensor fit make it effective for regional maritime domain awareness.
