**DETAILS:** The Seafox I ROV represents a significant element in modern mine countermeasures (MCM) doctrine, prioritizing safety by removing personnel from the immediate danger zone. Developed in the early 2000s, the system was designed to provide a rapidly deployable and highly maneuverable platform for identifying and neutralizing sea mines and other underwater ordnance. The ROV also allows for precise positioning of explosive charges for subsequent mine disposal by larger, dedicated MCM platforms or trained Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) divers.

The Seafox I's effectiveness stems from its sensor package and maneuverability. The generic low-light television (LLTV) camera provides a clear visual feed, even in low-visibility conditions, allowing operators to positively identify mine types and assess their condition. Complementing the LLTV is a generic ROV mine hunting sonar. This sonar is optimized for short-range, high-resolution imaging, enabling the ROV to precisely locate and classify objects on the seabed. Although unarmed, the Seafox I can be equipped with a small disruptive charge for in-situ mine disposal.
