You may wonder from where the whole points system comes? It was designed by NWC member, Erik Ahrenkiel Frederiksen some time ago. I was inspired by this and decided to include the cost evaluation procedures. They would be good in making some tournaments for example, where both forces will have an upper limit of points using which, they will purchase the units. I wish to thank Erik for his great idea. Below is a small example how the program calculates a unit cost:

Let's take an example - "12th Pol. Uhlan Regt." from Napoleon In Russia game. The unit is 375 men strong with quality of 6 and armed with lances. There factors that decide of the cost are:

• basic type of unit - in our case it is "Cavalry" that costs 50 points per one strenght point (25 men)
• strength - the units is 375 men strong - that is 15 strength points
• unit type - in our case it's "Light Cavalry" with a modifier of 0 (0%)
• weapon type - "Lances" give additional modifier of +0.1 (+10%)
• quality - it's 6 so this is above the average 5 - this gives us a modifier of +0.2 (+20%)

So the total value will be:

• base cost is 15 * 50 = 750 points
• modifier of +30% adds another (750 * 30%) = 225 points
• total value is then 975 points
