Situation
Multiple sources have confirmed that Chinese Maritime Militia (PAFMM) forces in the area of the exercise zone have been ordered to disrupt our exercise. While ASEAN member views vary on China, exercise command and the government of the host, Vietnam, have agreed that the exercise must continue. We do not expect the PAFMM to open fire unless they are first fired upon.
Red Forces
China
The PAFMM force templated in the area is likely to consist of FT-16, FT-17, and FT-18 type vessels supported by armed fishing vessels. The Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) has a Type 056 Jiangdao patrolling in the area, which is likely passing information to any nearby PAFMM units. The People’s Liberation Army Navy Air Force (PLANAF) has had flights of Y-8Q Cub MPA shadow our assembling task force.

Our task force is made up of various units from ASEAN. A significant amount of time was spent preparing the officers of the various nations for the joint nature of the exercise. Our force was constructed based on units available to participate in the exercise and not coherently designed tactical elements.

Mission
The task force will conduct a SINKEX, SAREX, and ASWEX inside the exercise zone at the designated times. The task force will repel any unauthorized naval encroachment of the exercise zone.
Execution
- Destroy the SINKEX target near the SINKEX marker after 0700 local time.
- Rescue the dummy near the SAR Exercise marker after 1500 local time.
- Destroy the submarine target near the ASW Exercise after 2100 local time.
- Prevent any breach of the Exercise Zone.
Designer Notes
- Every 60 minutes you will lose 10 points for each PAFMM ship that enters the exercise zone. You gain 250 points for each exercise objective completed.
- Use the Special Action "Issue Radio Warning" to warn off PAFMM vessels. Select a friendly aircraft or ship to issue the warning before executing the action.
- This scenario uses Lua to simulate amphibious/seaplane aircraft. To land seaplanes on water, order them to fly at "Loiter" speed, at mimimum altitude. To takeoff from water order landed seaplane ships to "Flank" speed. Each minute, any seaplane aircraft or landed seaplane ship that meets these conditions will be removed and replaced with a unit representing their new state.
