This is a World War One scenario*
Both forces are approximately battalion size and the scenario takes between 1 and 2 hours
to play.

"It takes 16,000 dead to train a Major General."*
____________Field Marshall Joffre
**

This is a historical scenario. It is intended to be played from the French side with C/C
turned off.
**

At 1000 hours, April 4, 1916, during the Verdun offensive, elements of the German 22d
infantry regiment prepared to assault French strong points on the high ground. The strong
points were nearly surrounded but a robust French defense quickly tied down many of the
available German forces.
**

At 1000 hours a bombardment of smoke to limit visibility was fired as scheduled and the
German attack began.
**

This is where the scenario begins. Take command of the French forces and hold the strong
points at all cost. Some light artillery is at your disposal.
**

Beware of German artillery support. Try to avoid having large numbers of troops pinned down
or you may not be able to maneuver.
