This is a small, fast-playing battle.
**
Note: This scenario should be played with all options on except command & control.
It is intended that the human player take the Polish side. Playing the German side
will not work due to the structure of the scenario.
**

Background**
September 17th was a bad day in the history of the Black Brigade. Some of the Brigade,
defending Lwow were forced to surrender on this date. Remnants of the Brigade vowed to
fight on and contine to move East even though it has been reported that Lwow was turned
over to Soviet forces who are moving into Poland. Some portions of the Black Brigade
decided to escape to Hungary.
**

In this scenario, the human player must advance through German positions to one of
three exit hexes. The object of this scenario is save as many Polish troops as possible by
exiting via the three exit hexes. This will not be easy. The creek at the top of the screen
is impassible to vehicles so you must initially move East. Then, you must decide which
direction will allow you the best chance to "break" through the German positions and reach
Hungary.
**

How this scenario works:
*
You will see 4 Polish tanks with the crews removed. These crews have been increased
in value to approximately 20 points each. Their tanks have had movement set to 1 hex to
simulate that they are without fuel. So reloading the crews into their tanks will not
work. It will be necessary to move these crews to an exit hex. You will need the points
that they will provide. In addition, there are two tanks that you cannot afford to lose, the
AO unit and DO unit. Keep your losses low and exit the map and you will win. See the
manual for an explantion of how exit hexes work.
**

Take command of the Polish troops! Save these remnants of the Black Brigade. Choose your
direction of movement carefully. Remember, every man man counts.
**

After the battle:*
Seventeen days of combat and the surrender at Lwow took a huge toll on the Brigade. The fuel
supply was exausted. Further operations were only possible by transferring fuel from one
vehicle to another so that at least some tanks could continue the fight.
**

A substantial number of the Black Brigade were able to reach Hungary and eventually, became
the nucleus of the 1st Polish Armored Division which played an important role at Falaise,
France, in 1944.
