This scenario is designed for play with all options turned on except C/C. It takes something
more than 2 hours to play depending upon whether fast artillery and op fire are used. The
German side should be played by the human player. German units have been assigned objectives
for those who wish to play with C/C turned on.
**

In early October, the German 6th Army began to close on the factory district in the North
portion of Stalingrad. The Germans attempted to advance with 3 infantry divisions and some
300 tanks. This scenario depicts a battle group of 6th Army assaulting the Red October
factory which was defended by a mixture of experienced and green units of the Red Army.
**

Take command of the attacking force and assault Red October. The German (human) player can
choose to purchase 850 points in reinforcements at any time by pressing the F4 key. The
reinforcements, if purchased, will arrive at Reinforcement Hex 1. Any number of reinforcements
may be purchased up to the maximum available.
**

It is possible to cause the battle to end before the 16 turns if enough Soviet units are
destroyed and all v-hexes are captured.
**
Design Note:*
It is difficult to design a city battle involving armor since tanks can crash through
buildings without much danger of being damaged. So this scenario is experimental in
nature as an effort to find ways to compensate the defender for indestructable armor in the
hands of the human player. So many of the stone buildings and a few of the wooden buildings
have a tank obstacle in them to prevent driving through them. Other stone buildings are more
like warehouses and may be passed through by armored units. Unfortunately, armor is rarely
damaged by crashing into buildings.
**
In other words, I tried to make it so bad things when the player tries to drive vehicles
through buildings.
