This scenario is designed for play with all options turned on except C/C. It takes
approximately an hour to play, depending upon whether fast artillery and op fire
are used. The Soviet side should be played by the human player. Soviet units have been
assigned objectives for those who wish to play with C/C turned on.
**

In early February, the Soviet 29th Army was encircled and cut off. An airborne landing was
planned to reinforce the beleagured 29th Army and to assist with the planned breakout.
**

One parachute company entered the town of Monchalovo and another entered Everzovo.
Soon, the German forces initiated repeated attacks on these two towns held by the Soviet
parachutists. The command element for the airborne battalion will land after turn 2.
**

Your task is to hold at least a portion of one of the towns. It is possible to win without
controlling all victory hexes.
**

After the battle. Remants of the Soviet paratroops were able to link up with the remainder
of 29th Army and were able to break out in a Southwesterly direction. It is doubtful that
such a small airborne drop was of much importance in the breakout but the jump was successful
in that the parachutists were able to accomplish their assigned mission. This mission was
characterized by problems common to most, if not all, Soviet airborne operations. Namely,
poor planning, lack of air support, bitterly cold weather and strong winds.
