Note: This is an armor engagement. It makes for a good two player game. If playing against the computer, you are to play the German side. You'll find proper use of cover and careful deployment are the keys to victory (if the "Jabos" (P-47s) spare you, that is).**

______Historical Background*
*
At the end of March 1945 all along the front of the First and Ninth Armies, American forces were looking for a way for another breakout and end run to finish the encirclement of the Germans in the Ruhr.*
*
With a successful entrapment of these enemy troops, the war would probably come to a rapid end.**

The Third Armored Division was making a major move in this direction with three armored task forces. The principal one was Task Force Richardson. His force had been stopped just short of the city of Paderborn, designated to be part of the linkup area of the First and Ninth.**

During the night of the A second force from CCR/ 3rd Armored Division, named Task Force Welborn, came up on the right flank of Richardson's columns.**

Major Welborn attempted to bypass the resistance near Paderborn but came across heavy tank and small arms fire. He too was stopped.**

The Major had been informed that a force of infantry and four Tiger tanks in his path had been eliminated that afternoon by a force of P-47 Thunderbolts.**

With this information he moved on confidently. A force of US armor topped the hill before Brilon and was suddenly hit by accurate 88mm fire. The "destroyed" Tigers were still very much alive.**

True, they had been scorched and scarred by rockets and bombs, but four of them were hungry for battle and a little "payback."**
