This is a replacement spwaw.exe for Steel Panthers World at war v.8.2 - 8.403 that tries to fix the issue where the introduction movie is not playing or only plays the sound. This is done by writing a new executable that uses Microsoft DirectShow to play the movie file and accepts the .wmv (Windows media video) and .avi file extensions.

The C++ source code is available in the "src" directory for those interested.

Installation:
-------------
Just place spwaw.exe in the Steel Panthers World at War directory. Be sure to backup your old spwaw.exe if needed.

If the intro movie does not play you probably do not have the IndeoVideo 5 codec enabled.

To enable the codec you can run the following command in the command prompt:
cd c:\Windows\syswow64
regsvr32 ir50_32.dll

If you want to disable the codec you can run the following command:
cd c:\Windows\syswow64
regsvr32 /u ir50_32.dll

If you are using a 32 bit version of Windows replace syswow64 with system32.

For future it might be a good idea to convert the old intro movie to a more modern video standard instead of using the obsolete IndeoVideo5 format.

For example the video conversion from .avi to .wmv can be done using the "Microsoft Expression Encoder 4" (SP2) program.
