RE: How waste works...

<t> Canals were radically expanded during the period the game covers. As an example the Nantes - Brest Canal was built to move Navl Stores from Nantes to Brest without exposing them to the British Ships on Blockade. The Nantes end of the Canal hookd up with the Loire River and was all connect to the ...

RE: Merchants from God

English Merchant ships wee lost on a regular basis. In the 1805 - 1806 period French and Spanish privateers captured more than 1700 British Merchantmen...James's History of the Royal Navy is a good source for information on losses

RE: How waste works...

Western Euope had an excellent canal system which is sill in use today...I think that even in present times it would stun you the amount of barage tonnage compared with truck tonnage in Germany.

<t> You haven't hit the wall yet. As France I have been able to get to 4k of income by maxing tax and playing with the feudal systems and being selective about what I owned and what I gave away. In my last game was able to get to over 3k in waste. At that time was also in the 190s for division ...

<t> There is no doubt you can limp along with more than 18 but you have to be very creative. I gave away provinces so I could get money to build banks everywhere trying to really push cash...I gave Aragon to Russia for example. But it makes you do kind of strange things...like making prisoners ...

<r> I will take your word on it. Like many people my interest in the time period began with things military and has over the decades evolved into trying to understand the political and economic system that was able to make it happen.<br/>

<t> A lot of things could be done as simply as they did combat upgrades...<br/>
<br/>
For example why are upgrades like naval guns and naval manuveurs a function of barracks and not docks?<br/>
<br/>
Why aren't depots tied into number and quality of factories? etc. <br/>
<br/>
Technology could ...

<t> Thank you for the apology<br/>
<br/>
I wanted what the game said it was going to be. As it turns out it is not. However that does not mean it is not an enjoyable way to pass some time...but historical...I am sorry but it is not. I will certainly be very supportive of anyones efforts to write ...

Dear Warpstorm,

Thank you for you enlightening, albeit unoriginal, observations. Perhaps if you focused on the game instead of making juvenile comments people might actually design a better product.

<t> I agree with you and think that detail for the sake of detail is pointless...I think it would improve this game if you had the option to turn the economy off completely...and just had the game give you a budget for troop production. As it is at 18 provinces corruption will make your economy very ...

RE: Money

How many Provinces did you control? Look at the corruption level...it will go above 66% when you are above 18 provinces and you will quickly be bankrupt...

I am expermenting with ceding provinces....it would be nice if you could cede them to a minor power who is a protectorate.

RE: Textiles, wool, and cotton questions

<t> Well in this game when you hit the magic 18 provinces under you control watch out for a corruption and waste percentage of 66%plus...your economy will implode and you will not have cash to build units...maybe the economic models will become more real to you then when you have all the resources ...

They have a war game in whihc they have abstracted Economics and the Naval War to the point where the game would be smoother without them...They should have left it alone and just assumed the economy and developed a system where one had to ...
