How do I change between 2D and 3D Units on the detailed battle screen?

Just downloaded and installed the game along with the relevent patches.<br/>
My problem is that on reading the manual on page 40 it metions being able to use both 2D and 3D units on the detailed battlefield.<br/>
Whenever I enter a detailed battle I appear to be using the 3D ...
