RE: Distant Worlds: Universe not starting

I'm not sure why but something in the original Matrix Distant Worlds installer fixed the problem for me. I'm assuming it was the earlier version of .Net but the OP stated they had installed 3.5. Not sure.

RE: Distant Worlds: Universe not starting

Maybe a fix? I installed .net 3.5 and now Distant Worlds Universe loads.

My OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Edit: I should say, I ran the installer for the original Distant Worlds and as soon as .net and Directx installed, I tried Universe again and it worked.

RE: Distant Worlds: Universe not starting

<t> I am experiencing the same problem. Went to install Universe through Steam on a machine that had never had Distant Worlds installed. Its actually a new install of Windows 8.1 x64. If I navigate to the SteamApps folder and attempt to run autorun.exe a black window appears, but I hear the sound ef...

RE: Share Unit Groups for Import

That was my hope, to find some ready made period battle groups to put against one another just for fun. To see how capabilities have changed, etc.

RE: Share Unit Groups for Import

Sorry Sunburn...I'm still pretty new to the game.

In case others search for this:

7.1.11 in the manual (Page 97-98). Files are located: "..\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\ImportExport"

Share Unit Groups for Import

Is there a way for us to share unit groups with one another? The Import/Export tool is great. I haven't seen anyone post historical groups so I was wondering if that was possible.

I apologize in advance if this has been answered, I searched but didn't find anything.

RE: How to control number of missiles fired ?

<t> I hate for my post in here to be in any way misconstrued that I don't adore the game and am thankful for the developers. I think it is amazing that we have a developer who will hear such a request and actually try and find a way to accomplish it. On top of that we have a game so encompassing and...

RE: How to control number of missiles fired ?

<t> What about a ROE setting "Maximum missiles in flight per target" or something to that effect? Might need a timer before the 2nd volley is launched, at least until we have time on target for missiles otherwise as soon as the first hits a new one will launch and the target may be sunk after the la...

RE: On the fence

I was a little worried myself because of the experience I had with War in the Pacific, but don't fear! I have found this game surprisingly intuitive. I was up and going within minutes. I'm still learning tactics and hardware...but the actual game and interface is very easy to pick up.

Shadows 1.9.0.1 Ship Suggestion Popup Bug

I get a popup that recommends I build ships, but all the numbers say 0. I've uploaded a savegame.

RE: Im guessing.

I hope Shadows brings in lots of new fans so once the eventual modder expansion is released, we can get some great gameplay that no one has thought of yet. Also hopefully it gives Codeforce lots of encouragement for Distant Worlds 2 :)

RE: Future of Distant Worlds

<t> I love the idea of complex diplomacy but I think the core resource mechanic needs the most work. It is also the component that makes DW unique. We need more feedback from the private industry and UI cues to help us see what has gone wrong or what we need...which also means we need more limited r...

<t> I agree, it is time for a new engine. A new engine and the ability to visualize the production chain better. In turn, we should have to fight more often for resources. In most games its either feast or famine. I hate to belabor my Anno comparison, but something akin to that.<br/> <br/> I just ho...

<t> Can someone comment on what is planned for the future of Distant Worlds? Will we see more expansions to the current engine, or is there a 'new from the ground up' Distant Worlds in our future?
