<t> Been busier than a one legged man at an ass kickin' contest I'm afraid. But always try to find time to play a game and lately FoF and COGEE have me addicted like nothing else I've played recently. So when I see a familiar face talking about playing I usually offer my services. But no pressure to ...

RE: Population Expansion

Yes a level of roads allows you 0.5 population over threshold, so every 2 levels means 1 point over (half doesn't give you a chance or anything you need both levels).

Universal service will do as you suggest Peter (cut your food bill by 20%) which is key for some countries.

Ok, that makes sense. But then how can - and sorry to start throwing out a lot of numbers here - how can a unit with a 0% chance of success occasionally successfully reform? Since 0 x 0 is zero. In other words, a 100% chance of failure x ...

RE: Population Expansion

It grows exponentially.

1 level of men above threshold costs you 2 food (1 + 1); 2 levels above costs you 5 food (1 + 4); 3 levels above costs you 10 food (1 + 9). This can get out of hand very rapidly.

The probability of failing each turn is 90%, and the probability of having failed 10 turns in a row is roughly 35%.

RE: Returned Units

<t> From a "logical" point of view, the POWs would have to count against mobilization limits. I mean, the limit should be a reflection of how much of your society can be mobilized to fight it's wars. Those POWs were mobilized against that limit before they were captured, and it would stand to reason ...

RE: Minimum # of ships in blockade?

<t> A good question, and one I would love a clear answer to myself.<br/>
<br/>
Based on what I have observed (note: not read anywhere) it definitely seems that there are calculations involved in determining the effectiveness of a blockade. What that may entail I can not say, but more seems to be ...

<t> The US should be left out because the Napoleonic Wars are a European affair which did not involve the US in any significant way.&nbsp; As a big fan of the US Navy in general, and in it' infancy in particular, I agree that this period is a fascinating time with Prebble's Boys and the Six Frigate ...

<t> I have successfully cut myself from a hard supply line and advanced south, but only in 1864 when my Union Armies are on a quality parity with the south, and my economy afforded me the luxury of keeping all armies on high priority so that enough supply got through anyway. RE: Reserve List for Multi-player PBEM

Hello Peter;

Took your advice and acquired COG:EE for Christmas, please add me to the list of players looking for a new game or as a replacement. I'm still learning the system, but by the time a game comes open I should be ready to go.

I have checked Gil and the level 1 fort that was built in Norfolk definitely marched into Petersburg and that is where it currently resides. It was not simply redrawn into another part of Norfolk. Files to Eric again I assume?

<t> I will check to make sure Gil. I saw it on the replay last night when I finished my turn and watched the replay before sending it to my opponent and it was a definitely a WTF moment. I was hoping it was nothing more than a screwy replay as I have seen (and reported) previously, but this morning ...
